Marlena Berzins Pathway Program
One of the club’s strategic objectives is to get more members to the start line each weekend. We know that our start lines can be quite intimidating for new-ish sailors (and even some experienced sailors), as boats jostle for position, rules are yelled back and forth, and the occasional bump or scrape occurs! We have consulted with some of our LTR participants, and have developed a new pathway program to transition our sailors from the Learn to Race program onto the start line each week. Marlena Berzins has agreed to coach this program, and we are inviting six of our female sailors to trial the program in three sessions that will be held during the remainder of this season. Our plan is to run this program in small groups on an ongoing basis starting next season, with all our “pathway” sailors being provided an opportunity to participate over time. We will communicate
Canteen Craziness – Help Needed Sunday 10 March
Sunday March 10this the last day of the JJs, and one of the most frantic days of the year in the DBSC canteen. Post racing and pre-presentation/closing party there is nothing for the 18s sailors to do other than eat pies and other goodies cooked up by the canteen crew. It would be wonderful to get several volunteers to help in the kitchen and with tidy up on the afternoon of the 10th. Please let Paul Adam know if you can help!
THIS FRIDAY – RIB Driver Needed
Thanks to everyone who’s volunteered to help drive a RIB during the JJs. We have just one spot left to fill – this Friday, March 1 from 1pm to 5pm. If you can If you can assist, please let Mark Crowhurst know ASAP. Thanks.
Piling Project Support
Member for Vaucluse, Gabrielle Upton MP, visited to the club last weekend to present a cheque for $24,000. The money is from the NSW Government to replace aging piles underneath the clubhouse. This support is vital in ensuring the longevity of our historic boat shed. We are grateful to the NSW Government for the funding and thank Ms Upton for her continued support of our club.

A rainy, gusty, shifty Southerly presented itself to a fleet of nearly 50 boats last Saturday for Club Championship heats 11 & 12 and Autumn Pointscore heats 5 & 6. The results were: Championship– Standards: David Newman (Championship Heat 11) and Marty Trembath (Championship Heat 12); Radials: Campbell Patton (Championship Heats 11 & 12); 4.7s: Ian Louis (Championship Heats 11 & 12). Pointscore(after handicap): Standards: Thomas Beregi (Pointscore Heat 5) and Rod Barnes (Pointscore Heat 6); Radial / 4.7s: Ashton Scott (Pointscore Heat 5) and Emily Ball (Pointscore Heat 6). Thanks to this week’s race volunteers — Jonathan Stone (PRO) and Clare Alexander on the Jazzman, Michael Osborne and Christine Linharton the RIBs, and Alistair Sutherland in the canteen.
