RACE REPORT 18 JUNE 2023

Synchronised Sailing

After dressing for the usual chilly 6AM temperatures I was surprised that it wasn’t that brisk. Knowing that the Jazzman and the flags on the Jazzman were still at the Spit for repairs (the boat, not the flags!), I got down early to make sure we had flags and the hooter ready to go for on time starts on the Paul Adam.Once there it became apparent that the predicted north westerly was decreasing. On the water we found a 2-knot north westerly the top end of the course and at the bottom end an even weaker southerly. We remained mildly optimistic as we watched the wind drop to nil. After an hour or so of bobbing around and chatting on

RACE REPORT 25 JUNE 2023

A clear and bright dawn awaited the race committee and captains-of-the-day, with a promise of steady winds. After negotiating random zephyrs in the bay, the fleet of 25 Lasers was greeted by a steady 12-14 kt breeze from the northwest and accompanying chop.In Race 1 (R16), the Radials and 4.7’s got away cleanly and completed the two lap sausage, as did the following Standards. By the start of Race 2 (R17), the wind had dropped to about 8 kts. Anxious Radial sailors triggered a general recall, so the Standards got first crack at the course. For Race 3 (R18) the breeze held, though there were distinct breeze lines to be chased.General consensus was that a fine morning on the water was had by all. Results so

Double Bay Wharf Upgrade 13 June 2023

The NSW Government is upgrading Double Bay Wharf as part of the Transport Access Program. This is not expected to have an impact on DBSC club racing. However you may see barges with anchor lines in the water in the area to the north of the club, and are advised to keep clear of any workers, barges or anchor lines near the wharf. Also if you see Blue & White signal flag “Alpha” – you should assume in this case there are Divers working in the water, and avoid taking your sailing boat or motor boat

PRO Ian Alexander reports:Over 30 sailors hit the water for our Winter Series Races 7, 8 & 9 shrouded in a beautiful sunny blue sky. It was a classic champagne Sydney Harbour morning. A brisk 10°C greeted the sailors as they made their way out to the start line with light winds from the West.
