It was great to welcome John back this season after a few years hiatus, read on to learn a bit about this DBSC veteran: 1. Race Report

The forecast big Northerly was supressed by rain. So instead of another 20 knot plus day, Score Point heats 5 and 6 were held in a very light breeze which grew slightly over the course of the afternoon. The first race of the day was shortened due to the lack of wind. With the light wind, rig set up and tide management was key.The winners (after handicap) were: Full Rigs: Nick Alexander (Point Score Heat 5) and Steve London (Point Score Heat 6); Radials/4.7s: Emily Ball (Point Score Heat 5) and Kirk Marcolina (Point Score Heat 6). Thanks to the race team for running an efficient day despite the lack of wind — Michael Osborne (PRO), Kate McHugh (LTRaR), Mark Crowhurst (COTD), Jim Dounis (CCO/CO-COTD) and Nick Pellow and Simon Stone who helped Paul and Shirley with canteen orders.

Keeping the Clubhouse Tidy

There has been a lot of gear left on the floor in the clubhouse, which we need to address as it encourages pests in the clubhouse (of the insect and animal variety) and gets in the way of rack access and other club operations.Richard George and Kim Ketelbey have very kindly agreed to take on the role of “house management” volunteers. They will be putting anything left on the floor of the club or anywhere in the change rooms into “lost property” bins, which will be disposed of monthly.The first instalment of this has occurred, with a large collection in and on crates in the vestibule to the women’s changeroom.  In addition, two old sails (a Radial with the number “0” and a Standard MkII with the number 211497) and three foil bags (two with full sets of serviceable equipment) were found lying around.  Martin White has these safely locked

As the HSC is in full swing we’ve been missing some of our year 12 sailors of late. That includes Daniel Costandi. We look forward to welcoming him back once he’s finished acing his exams. Perfect NEer Forecast for Twilights Tonight

It’s looking like another perfect evening for twilights tonight, with a 5pm splash. Sunny skies and 17 knots from the NE are predicted.  Last Wednesday we had 16 boats participate.  It was an awesome afternoon with a series of mini races run by Brett, and individual coaching tailored to each of the participants in the BBTP and their development stage.  Everyone participated in some very exciting close racing.  Let’s keep the big numbers rolling as we get further into those long warm evenings!
