Congratulations to Evie Saunders, who has won a silver medal in the ILCA 6 class at the Allianz Youth Sailing World Championships in The Hague, The Netherlands.The regatta was held in The Hague where the tides are quite extreme, so sailing there requires a 4th dimension of understanding.Evie stated the regatta well with a win in the first race and held onto 2nd for the whole regatta. The last race was very tense with up to 6 countries a possible podium finish and Evie said, “yellow flags were being displayed everywhere – I just sailed the way I know how, start well, and play the shifts … and stay out of trouble.” Evie is the first Australian radial girl to podium at the ISAF Worlds in more than a decade.
