RACE REPORT 16 SEPTEMBER 2023

Summer Championship Races 3 & 4

PRO James Tudball reports:There was a lot of heat on Saturday for Races 3 and 4 of the Club Champs… but unfortunately not a lot of wind. At 1PM there was barely a puff on the harbour, so the race team (James Tudball, Tim Heath, Mark Gray and Quentin Burns) opted for a brief onshore postponement to give the wind time to see which direction it wanted to fill from. At 1:30 we were a bit miffed to see the Squadron had plonked their start line directly in our racing area (along with 30+ Etchells), but we managed to co-exist!At 2:30 we were underway in about 5 knots

Club Championship Races 1 & 2

Saturday was the opening of our 2023-24 sailing season and the gods/godesses dished up sunny skies and a beautiful 12-18 knot oscillating southerly. We don’t get the harbour to ourselves very often, but it seems the slight chill in the air kept other boat traffic to a minimum.  Other than one general recall, both fleets were well behaved on the start line, which was surprising given it was the first club championship heat of the year. Plenty of young sailing talent was on show, some returning from the recent ILCA Open Worlds, the U21 Europeans and the 4.7 Youth Worlds in Greece.  They were looking sharp

2023/24 Season Opening BBQ

The Season Opener Barbie was a great success with many brilliant conversations, and members, partners and parents chatting into the evening, and maybe the odd drink was enjoyed. Thanks for the great food and atmosphere, wonderful to catch up with everyone, and thank you to Diana Chen and Peter Collie for arranging the food, and to Shirley and all those who helped on the day.

RACE REPORT 26 AUGUST 2023

WINTER Sprint Racing – FINAL DAYPRO Mike Dunne reports:The start of the day sucked, just old-fashioned sucked. No wind, no direction, no idea. We got it wrong setting the course. Tried to work to the prediction… Starting outside the bay, it turns out, doesn’t work. It was a learning thing. During Race 1 everything (and everyone) was all over the shop.  For Race 2, we went back to basics and set the weather mark in Double Bay and that totally rocked! So, 5 races in total, 4 amazing races, let’s call the 1st the ‘canary in the coal mine’. We rocked and maybe we rolled! 🤣 All in all, a spectacular day on (and sometimes in) our amazing harbour.. Approx
